The Big Five in a long weekend

Akagera is under three hours from Kigali, which makes a proper safari possible even on a short visit. This three-day itinerary is designed for travellers passing through Rwanda on business, adding days to a conference, or simply wanting a taste of the savannah before heading home.

We spend a day in Kigali, then two days in Akagera National Park: a full-day game drive, a night in a game lodge inside the park, a dawn drive and a boat safari on Lake Ihema before returning to the city.

It also works well as an add-on — put it before or after a gorilla trek, or combine it with time on Lake Kivu. Tell me what you have in mind.
