The full Rwanda experience in two weeks

The standard itinerary runs 13 days and takes in all four of Rwanda's major national parks: Akagera in the east (savannah and Big Five), Volcanoes in the northwest (mountain gorillas), Nyungwe in the southwest (chimpanzees and the canopy walk), and the Lake Kivu shoreline that runs along Rwanda's western border.

Every day involves taking our time and enjoying the serenity. The itinerary is deliberately paced — we don't rush from one sight to the next.

Accommodation is selected both for character and luxury. We stay in both small lodges and guesthouses, and luxurious hotels after more strenuous days on safari and trekking.

Shorter Rwanda tours

Not everyone has 13 days. Here are the common alternatives — all customisable, all private:

4–5 days

Safari focus

Akagera only. Good for wildlife and photography without the gorilla permit cost.

5–6 days

Gorillas and Volcanoes

Kigali arrival, gorilla trek, golden monkey trek, Musanze Caves, and departure.

7–8 days

Gorillas and Rainforest

Volcanoes National Park followed by Nyungwe — two very different forests, two primate species.

10–13 days

Full Rwanda tour

The complete itinerary. Safari, gorillas, rainforest, and the lake. The only way to see the whole of Rwanda.
