Private Rwanda tours designed around you

Rwanda packs safari, volcanoes, rainforest, and a great lake into a country half the size of Switzerland. It is one of the safest, cleanest, and most efficiently run countries on the continent. And outside the capital, Kigali, it remains largely undiscovered.

With my deep knowledge of Rwanda through years of exploring, I know where to find wild hippos and the main bird migration pathways outside the Parks. I know the guesthouses run by families, rather than chains, and how to get from the rainforest canopy to a serene restaurant on the shore of Lake Kivu in time for sunset.

Every Rwanda photography tour I lead is private — your group, your pace, your interests. The 13-day itinerary is a starting point. We can shorten it, lengthen it, focus it, or use it as the spine for something completely different.

Why Raw Africa Tours

One guide. All the way through.

You won't be handed between agencies or transferred between vehicles. I lead every day of every tour. That means continuity, flexibility, and a guide who knows your interests by day two.

Photography-focused.

I was a professional photographer before I was a private Rwanda tour guide. I know the light. I know the angles. I know how to position a vehicle so you're shooting into a clean background. If you want to improve your wildlife photography, I can help with that too.

Rwanda is not a tick-box destination.

Most visitors come for gorilla trekking Rwanda and leave after three days. The full country — Akagera, Nyungwe, Kivu — takes two weeks and rewards the time. I'm still finding new things on every tour.

Is Rwanda safe to travel?

Safety, weather, food, accommodation, health. Everything you need to know before you go.

Every tour is tailored.

Tell me what you're interested in — gorilla trekking, safari, birding, or all of it — and I'll put together an itinerary.
