
Rwanda sits just below the Equator, and is one of Africa's smallest countries, at about half the size of Switzerland. Rwanda has a very young population, with 80% of its 14 million inhabitants being under the age of 35. With its average elevation of 1600m, Rwanda is the 2nd highest country in Africa after Lesotho.
Weather
Rwanda has four seasons:
-a long rainy season (March to May) - MONSOON heavy rains and cloud cover - no tours during this period;
-a long dry season (June to August) - little or no rain and mostly sunshine;
-a short rainy season (September to November) - less rain than the long rainy season with intermittent sunshine; and
-a short dry season (December to February) - a little rain with sunshine.
The average daily temperature is 19 C, consistent throughout the seasons, and rarely drops below 15C at night.
