hills and plains of Akagera safari park

The view of Akagera, your home on Safari

Join us on an exhilarating Safari at Akagera National Park. The Park is a vast reserve protected by the Rwandan authorities and covers 1,100 km2. The Park is not only regularly patrolled by its well equipped Rangers, but is also protected along its eastern flank by a vast marsh making it almost impossible to access from neighbouring countries. This makes poaching extremely rare.
The Park is a combination of marshland and lake, rocky hills, savannah and patchy areas of thick brush, all ideal habitats for its extensive animal and bird life.  Whilst wild animals are anything but predictable, on our most recent 2 day safari in October 2024 we saw hippo, crocodile, lion, rhino, warthog, impala, topi antelope, buffalo, baboon, zebra and giraffe amongst others.
You will stay at the South Gate of the Park, in Safari accommodation with great food and beverages available.
You will be driven throughout the reserve in the comfort and protection of a Landrover or SUV, it being  unsafe to leave the vehicle and in fact prohibited...of particular danger are lions, leopards, hippos, and a startled elephant can be known to charge.
There is also abundant birdlife, including bee eaters, hornbills, fish eagles, long crested eagles and many more.
